Laura Plantation: Union Soldiers Guided Tour at Laura Plantation - Louisiana's Créole Heritage Site

Take part in a 50-minute guided tour to learn about nine individuals who were formerly enslaved at Laura Plantation and later joined the United States Armed Forces during the Civil War. In 1865, individuals of African descent made up approximately 10% of the United States military, with over 200,000 members, including more than 24,000 from Louisiana. During the tour, visit significant locations, including the front of the house, the raised basement, the kitchen garden, and an original 1840s cabin.
