Reykjavik: South Coast & Solheimajokull Glacier Hike

The Reykjavik South Coast and Solheimajokull Glacier Hike is a full-day guided tour departing from Reykjavik, covering the volcanic black sand beaches of Reynisfjara, the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and a cramponed walk on the Solheimajokull outlet glacier, which extends from the Myrdalsjokull ice cap. Solheimajokull has been a monitored site for glacial retreat research and offers a direct view of crevasses, ice ridges, and meltwater channels.

Participants walk on the glacier surface with crampons and ice axes provided by the guide, with the hike typically lasting around two hours on the ice. The coastal stops include the basalt sea stacks at Reynisfjara and the cave walk behind Seljalandsfoss. Tickets cover guided glacier equipment, transport from Reykjavik, and all named stops along the south coast route.
