Experience a unique sailing adventure through the glaciers
This guided catamaran cruise takes you across Argentina's largest freshwater lake for close encounters with some of Patagonia's most spectacular glaciers. You'll sail through the Northern Arm of Lake Argentino, navigating past massive icebergs and along channels lined with hanging glaciers, all while learning about the region's geology from your English or Spanish-speaking guide.
The tour covers both the Upsala and Spegazzini channels, offering views of multiple glaciers including the towering Spegazzini Glacier, which rises more than 135 metres above the water. You'll disembark at Spegazzini Base for panoramic glacier views and have plenty of opportunities to photograph the dramatic ice formations and pristine Patagonian landscape.
The cruise departs from Puerto Punta Bandera, located 47 kilometres from El Calafate. You'll need to arrange your own transport to the departure point. The catamaran is wheelchair accessible, making it suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Entrance to Los Glaciares National Park is not included and must be purchased separately. You can bring your own food to enjoy on board or at the Spegazzini Base. Dress warmly and bring layers as weather conditions can vary significantly on the lake.
The tour includes stops at the Upsala Channel to see floating icebergs and continues through the Spegazzini Channel where you'll observe hanging glaciers including Seco, Heim Sur, and Peineta glaciers before reaching the final stop at Spegazzini Glacier.
