Chambord

An architectural triumph packed with French history and elegance
Château de Chambord entry tickets give access to one of the largest châteaux in the Loire Valley, built from 1519 under the direction of King Francis I and widely attributed in part to Leonardo da Vinci's influence on its design. The château's most celebrated feature is its double-helix staircase at the centre of the keep, engineered so two people can ascend and descend simultaneously without meeting. Among Chambord attractions, the château stands apart for the scale of its architecture, with 440 rooms, 365 fireplaces, and a rooftop terrace offering views across the surrounding royal hunting forest.
Visitors move freely through the royal apartments, the keep, and the rooftop terraces, where the skyline of towers, lanterns, and chimneys reflects the French Renaissance at its most ambitious. The ground floor and first floor display period furnishings, tapestries, and exhibits on the château's history from Francis I through to its use by Louis XIV. Entry tickets cover general admission to the interior and the estate grounds, with timed-entry slots available during peak periods and audio guides purchasable separately on site.
